Revival at the University of Pittsburgh: Signs, Wonders, and Over 30 Football Players Saved
Revival is stirring in Pittsburgh—and this time, it's happening on the football field.
In just a few short months, more than 30 University of Pittsburgh football players have surrendered their lives to Jesus. What started as a simple prompting in the heart of senior tight end Jake Overman has now erupted into a full-blown campus movement known as Pitt Purpose—marked by salvation, baptisms, and undeniable signs and wonders.
“I heard God speak clearly that He wanted to bring revival to this campus,” Overman told CBN News. That word was confirmed through dreams, leading him to partner with local pastors and launch weekly Bible studies and prayer gatherings for student-athletes.
The results? Nothing short of miraculous.
“We've seen healings. We've had players receive their prayer language. We’ve seen lives completely changed—and it’s all Jesus,” Overman shared.
Many athletes, overwhelmed by the pressures of performance, fame, and the expectations of the NIL era, have discovered a deeper foundation through faith. As Overman explains, the platform of athletics only amplifies the importance of being rooted in something eternal.
Recently, several Pitt football players publicly declared their faith through baptism as part of Baptize America, a nationwide initiative involving over 650 churches and over 26,000 baptisms. Pittsburgh was one of many cities swept into this unprecedented wave of revival.
But for Overman, this is just the beginning.
“If God can touch a football team, He can touch a campus. If He can touch a campus, He can touch a city—and if He can touch a city, He can touch a nation.”
What’s happening at the University of Pittsburgh echoes a greater move of God sweeping across college campuses nationwide. And student-athletes are leading the charge—boldly stepping into the spotlight to make His name known.
At Signs and Wonders, we believe these stories are proof: God still moves in undeniable ways—and often starts with those willing to say “yes.”
